The Woven Series

Created for our Sisters Behind the Walls

Woven A behind the Walls Series from the Fierce Grace Movement

Woven exists in honor of a woman named Lisa—my friend, my mirror, my reminder that even the most forgotten stories can bloom again.

Logo for My Friend Lisa, the advocacy branch of The Fierce Grace Movement.

Lisa showed me what it meant to sit in truth, to hold pain with open hands, and to walk toward healing one fragile step at a time.
This series carries her fingerprints. Not in biography, but in spirit.

Her tenderness.

Her grit.

Her faith in small beginnings.

Woven is my way of making sure women like Lisa are never unseen again.

Created by Toby Dorr and the Fierce Grace Movement, Woven grew out of years of listening to women whose stories were silenced.

How Woven Supports Women Behind Bars

Trauma-informed prompts that honor shame, loss, and survival without re-traumatizing.

Gentle structure that works whether a woman writes daily or once a week.

Language of grace, not judgment, rooted in dignity and second chances.

Designed for groups or solo use—book clubs, chaplain programs, reentry classes, or one woman in her bunk with a pen.

How Facilities and Programs Use Woven

Chaplains, reentry coordinators, program directors, and volunteers use Woven as a flexible companion to existing classes or as a stand-alone program. Books can be used one at a time, as a complete bundle, or woven into other curriculum.

  • Small groups led by staff or volunteers
  • One-on-one mentoring
  • Self-paced journaling with optional check-ins
  • Pre-release or reentry preparation groups
